While English Springer Spaniels have the alertness of ideal hunting dogs, they can be affectionate and calm dogs for the family. They are intelligent dogs.

As active dogs, English Springer Spaniels find amusement in playing with such common household items as plastic bottles or socks! Although Springers generally get along well with other pets in the household, they will need extra training to live with pet birds because of their retrieving instinct. Since they have seemingly limitless energy, they will need exercise every day. They have very long legs and are among the fastest spaniels.
