The Boston Terrier took its name from the city of its origin. In the 1800s, Bostons resulted from the crossing of an English terrier and a bulldog. This dog weighed more than 30 pounds. Subsequently, this male dog was bred to a smaller female, and their male offspring also was bred to a smaller female. This generation was probably bred with French bulldogs, providing the foundation for Boston Terriers.

Boston Terriers are lively, active dogs that are devoted to their owners. Because of their active nature, they enjoy games, exercise, and walking outdoors.
